Dr. Valerie Jean Campbell, 64, of Stanardsville, VA, passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital. She was born on June 20, 1960, in Albuquerque, NM to the late Charles and Mary Campbell. Valerie began her 30-year teaching career in Florida before moving to Virginia, educating students in Greene County, and later with Orange County Schools where she recently retired. Even after retirement, she took part-time positions and continued to teach the "kids" she adored so dearly. Val had an intense passion for teaching children and made it her life's work to educate and encourage every child she encountered. She truly loved her home on the river in Greene, Virginia. She also had a lifelong fondness for the beach where she had a home away from home. Her time at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina brought her so much joy. Val had an intense appreciation for living life to the fullest. She enjoyed horseback riding, spending time at the swimming hole on the river, and the occasional arts and crafts with friends, who were her tribe. She cherished her dogs and other pets, even the hermit crabs have the "Taj Mahal" of aquariums. Her hobbies over the years have been centered greatly around her time with Sawyer (Great Nephew) and James (Nephew). They included yearly Easter egg hunts on the mountain, laser tag, jump parks, movie dates, putt putt, and even the occasional Disney adventure. Her favorite thing in life was being THE Aunt Val, always there with a big hug and a plan for big fun. She is survived by "Light of her life" Sawyer Crow Webb; her sister, Mary (George) Webb; nephews, James Webb, Charlie (Skylar) Webb, and George (Erin) Webb, II; niece, Rachel (Matthew) Neal; and numerous great nieces, great nephews, extended family, and friends.
