Obituary

Tony Rogers Brown, 67, of Scottsville, VA, passed away with family by his side on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at his residence. He was born on May 7, 1958, in Charlottesville, Va to Sally Ann Arthur and the late Edgar P. “Dee” Brown, Jr.

Tony was a man who found joy in life’s simple pleasures and shared that joy generously with those around him. He had a deep love for working on old cars, always happiest with a wrench in his hand and bringing a classic engine back to life.

Tony also had a unique appreciation for collecting Indian figurines, carefully curating his collection over the years. In quieter moments, he enjoyed spending time with coloring and word-find books, which brought him peace and contentment.

Above all, Tony was a wonderful husband, a devoted father, and a proud grandfather. His family was his greatest accomplishment and his deepest source of happiness. He led with kindness, patience, and a steady presence. To know Tony was to know a genuinely good man who was dependable, thoughtful, and full of heart.

He will be remembered not only for the things he loved, but for the love he gave so freely. He was truly a great person all around, and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of almost 48 years, Carolyn Brown; his children, Jeannie Cochran (Robert), Johnny Jones, Anthony “Bo” Thacker (Tiffany), and Stephanie Little (Barry); his siblings, Frank Brown (Jean), James Brown (Sharon), Mike Brown (Sissy), Ethel Garrison (David), and Louise Thomas (Jerry); many grandchildren and great grandchildren; a special niece; and numerous extended family and friends.

A service celebrating Tony’s life will be announced at a later date, and all who knew and loved him will be welcome to join in honoring his memory.

The family would like to thank his nurse Kelly with Hospice of the Piedmont for the love shown to Tony and his family.
