Tammy Venita House, 51, of Stanardsville, VA, passed away on Friday, June 27, 2025, at her residence. She was born on December 11, 1973, in Cole County, MO to the late James Brooks and Barbara Bemis. As a young woman Tammy decided to enlist in the United States Air Force. She began her service as a Spanish Linguist, using her language skills to strengthen communication and security efforts across borders. Over the years, her dedication and leadership propelled her through the ranks, and she retired in 2019 with the rank of Major, having served honorably and with distinction. Her career took her around the world, including multiple deployments to Afghanistan, Qatar, and various locations throughout South America. After retiring from active duty, Tammy continued to serve her country through her work as a government contractor with InPursuit, applying her knowledge and experience as a seasoned Intelligence Officer. Her commitment to excellence was also evident in her academic achievements. Tammy earned her Master's Degree in Intelligence Studies from the American Military Institute, graduating with honors. Tammy was a woman of deep faith who strived to live a life grounded in principle, kindness, and integrity. As a proud Native American, she also carried a profound spiritual connection to her heritage, honoring the traditions and teachings passed down through generations. Outside of her professional life, Tammy found joy in the simple pleasures of nature. She loved tending to her plants and garden and found peace while fishing which was one of her favorite pastimes. Her heart was open to all living creatures, and she shared her home with numerous beloved pets, all rescues, each one a testament to her compassion. Tammy's legacy is one of strength, selfless service, quiet wisdom, and unwavering care for her country, her community, and all beings great and small. She will be remembered not only for the many lives she touched but for the integrity and grace with which she lived. She is survived by her husband, Edward House III; as well as her brother, Jim "Bear" Brooks; and two sisters, DeAnn "Dove" Burton, and Virginia Vaughan. Services for Tammy will be announced at a later date.
