Sondra Ann Martin "Sonny", 54, of Arrington, VA, passed away on Friday, August 8, 2025, at the University of Virginia Medical Center. She was born on September 25, 1970, in Evansville, IN, to Michael Johnson and the late Beverly Johnson. Sonny was born and raised in the Evansville, Indiana, area, where her roots were planted deep in Midwestern soil. She also spent part of her youth and young adulthood in the sunny warmth of Bradenton, Florida. In her 20s, she made Virginia her home for the last 30 years, first in Woodbridge before finding her place in Lovingston, where she spent the last 15 years of her life surrounded by the beauty of the mountains and the warmth of her community. Sonny's greatest joy came from being with her family and friends. She had a way of making those around her feel special, loved, and truly seen. Her passion for crocheting was more than a hobby, it was an act of love. She poured her time and care into creating beautiful blankets, each one a reflection of her generous heart and given to those she cherished. Her kindness, creativity, and devotion left an imprint on everyone who knew her. Sonny's memory will live on in the laughter she shared, the comfort she gave, and the warmth of the blankets she made, gifts that will forever wrap her loved ones in her love. In addition to her father, she is survived by her husband, David martin; and her children, Kristy Stack, Kevin Fraser, and Joshua Strope. A celebration to honor Sonny's life may be announced at a later date.
