Shelby Jean Deavers, 63, of Spotsylvania, VA, passed away peacefully and with family by her side on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at her residence. She was born on March 3, 1963, in Fairfax, VA to Amy Reichert and the late Elmer Dennis Deavers.
Shelby was an extremely devoted mother, loving daughter, sister, and friend whose greatest pride and purpose in life were her boys. As a hardworking single mother, she dedicated herself to providing for her family and ensuring her children always knew they were loved, supported, and protected. No challenge was too great when it came to the people she cared about.
She had a vibrant personality that left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She was a true spitfire, strong-willed, honest, and never afraid to tell you exactly how she felt. Her directness was balanced by a deeply caring heart, and those closest to her always knew they could count on her unwavering loyalty and fierce defense.
Shelby was an avid reader who could often be found lost in the pages of a good book and was also a wonderful cook who expressed her love through the meals she prepared for family and friends. She enjoyed watching horror movies, visiting haunted houses, and sharing her fascination with tarot card readings. Her unique interests, quick wit, and spirited nature made her unforgettable.
Above all else, family was everything to her. She loved hard, protected relentlessly, and gave selflessly. Her strength, determination, and unconditional love will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her son, Christopher Baker (Amy Coffey); her grandchildren, Dylan Conger, Riley Baker, Gabriella Baker, Jackson Baker, and Colton Baker; her siblings, Wesley Dennis Deavers, William Deavers, Sherry Lynn Deavers, and Sandy Beahm; and her ex-husband, Craig Eugene Baker.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her son, Craig Jason Baker; and her brother, Rodney “Porky” Deavers.
A private celebration to remember her life will take place in Florida at a later date.
