Sally Louise (Raab) Martin joined her heavenly family on Thursday, February 13, 2025. Her husband Jerry, daughters Julie, Laura, and April, grandchildren, great grandchildren, siblings, nieces and nephews both mourn and celebrate her life and passing. We were blessed by her dedication to the Lord, talent in gardening, artistic expression with needle and thread, and her delight in birds, especially the cardinal couple. Sally graduated from Mount Carroll, IL, high school in 1955 and then attended Cottey College, in Nevada MO, for two years. She met her lifelong sweetheart, Gerald (Jerry) in 1959, after he came home from serving in the Navy. They were married in 1960 at First Brethren Church in Lanark, IL. Most of their lives together were spent in Shannon, IL, where they enjoyed a 'small town' life. Sally was an amazing homemaker and cherished everything about making their home beautiful and bountiful. She made many school clothes, prom dresses and bridesmaid dresses for her three girls. Our table was always blessed with wonderful food from her garden all year long. Many delicious pies and canned vegetables were served there! In their nurturing home, she often served as hostess, welcoming friends in Christian fellowship and Bible study. And Sally enjoyed endless long walks with her girls and fishing trips with her family. She is survived by her husband, Jerry, her three girls, Julie, Laura and April, and their families, and her youngest sister, Beverly (Raab) Jeter of California. A family graveside ceremony will be held at the Shannon Cemetery in May (date TBD). In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to Hospice of the Piedmont, 2965 Ivy Rd, 3rd Floor, Charlottesville, VA 22903, and/or to Gerald Martin at Rosewood Village, 2029 Lockwood Dr., Apt #328, Charlottesville, VA, 22911.
