Robert Larry Nidermaier, 67, of Bumpass, VA, passed away on Friday, April 7, 2023, at Hospice of the Piedmont Center for Acute Care in Charlottesville, VA. He was born December 4, 1955, in Louisa, VA to the late, William "Pete" and Phyllis "Joyce" Nidermaier. Larry was born, raised, and lived his entire life on his family farm in Bumpass, VA. Hard work and love of trains led him to become an equipment operator, loading train cars, for Martin Marietta for many years until his retirement. He loved nature and being in the outdoors; especially in the mountains of West Virginia, which was his favorite place to be. Larry never met a stranger and would always help anyone in need. His big smile would light a room and his huge heart was always felt. He is survived by his stepdaughter, that he thought of as his own, Michelle Jordan (CJ) of Palmyra; his stepsons, Mark Dodson of Culpeper, and Cory Dodson of Madison; his siblings, Billy Nidermaier (Myra) of Montana, Frank Nidermaier (Patti) of Goochland, and Gayle Nidermaier (Monte) of Texas; his grandchildren, whom he thought the world of, Matthew, Macie, Mason, and Miles; his long-time dear friend, Festus; his dog, Cricket; his cat, Chrissie; and numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Deborah Elizabeth Critzer Nidermaier; and his dog, Chico. A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Ruckersville Cemetery, with Pastor Tim Chrisman officiating.
