Robert Laurent Chapman

Robert Laurent Chapman, 77, of Timberville, VA, passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at Charlottesville Health and Rehabilitation. He was born on December 11, 1948, in Charleston, WV, to the late Park Vassar Chapman and Mary Carol Abbot.

Robert served our country in the United States Navy and was a Vietnam Veteran. He was a talented and creative individual whose passions reflected both his artistic spirit and appreciation for precision and craftsmanship. He enjoyed spending time at the shooting range and was a proud member of the National Rifle Association. A gifted artist, Robert found joy in painting, drawing, and capturing the beauty of the world through his camera lens. Photography was not only one of his greatest passions but also his profession, allowing him to share his unique perspective and creativity with others throughout his career. His artistic talents, keen eye for detail, and dedication to his hobbies brought him great fulfillment and left a lasting impression on those who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Diane Wickland; his daughter, Morgan Chapman; his granddaughter, Sibeau Combs; and his siblings, Park Chapman, Louise Rinehard, Karen Abbot, Leslie Abbot, and Alice Catalini.
