Richard John Jennings, 72, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 18, 1950, in New York, and is preceded in death by his parents, Sheldon Jennings and Irene Schmitt. Richard (Richie) Jennings was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, neighbor, and friend. He grew up in Levittown, NY where he met his devoted wife of 51 years, Dolores. Despite his tough demeanor, he had the deepest love for his family and close friends. Quick to help others in times of need, Richie taught everyone around him what it means to "show up" without question, every time, even if he was perpetually late to everything. From working endless hours, to coaching his children and their friends, to being an "adoptive" dad to so many, Richie never gave up on himself or us. He made us so proud, and we all wanted to make him equally proud of us (even when he was mad). Richie will be forever in our hearts as the man who fought for his own life, beating every odd presented to him, because he wanted so badly to continue showing up for as long as he possibly could. He is survived by his loving wife, Dolores Jennings; his daughters, Stacy Jennings, and Elizabeth "Liz" Jennings-Orozco and her wife, Erin; his grandchildren, Jeffrey Holding (and his partner Vittoria Mastrangelo), Jameson and Isabel Jennings-Orozco; his niece, Sara and her husband, Keith and their two children, Carly and Patrick Brown; his nephew, David Holding; his sister-in-law, Lolita Holding and her fiance, Michael Coffey; brother-in-law, Frank Dragon; his cousins John Brian, Kathy, and Eileen (and their beautiful families); his nieces and nephews, John, Dougie and Lilly DeSouza (and her children, Mila and Cruz); his dearest friends, the Bonannos; longtime friend, John Roach; lifelong friends Patti and Frank Salatti (and their beautiful family); his caring friend, Marie Sutherland; his "adopted son", Scott Bryant; his dogs, Bailey and Camila; and so many others who adored him. Services for Richie will be private. An online guestbook is available at www.compassionatecremationva.com Compassionate Cremation Services of Ruckersville, VA is handling the arrangements.
