Rebecca May Smith, 63, of Charlottesville, VA passed away on Friday, October 29, 2021, at Martha Jefferson Hospital. She was born on November 27, 1957, in Ivy, VA to the late Joseph Franklin Shaver, Sr., and Virginia Maude Batten Shaver. Rebecca was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She had a special place in her heart for children and became a mother figure and mentor to so many throughout the years. She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Michael Wayne Smith, Sr.; children, Becky Jo Wiseman (Ricky) and Michael Wayne Smith, Jr.; grandchildren, Brandon Wayne (Ana), Rebecca Lea Wiseman, Brooke Ann-Nichole Smith, Michael Wayne Smith III, Dakota Levi Smith, Christopher Bradley, Hampton Frazier, and Rowan Frazier; great grandchild, Gabriella Garcia; siblings, Edward Shaver, Austin Shaver, Thomas Shaver, Dale Shaver, and Cathy Fox; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Joseph Shaver, Doris Hensley, and James Shaver. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Compassionate Cremation Services of Ruckersville, VA is handling the arrangements.
