Neil Rex Spencer of North Garden, Virginia, gained his eternal wings on February 5, 2024, at the University of Virginia Medical Center. He was born on August 31, 1964, the youngest son of the late Glen Rex Spencer and the late Frances Ann Spencer, both of North Garden, Virginia. Neil graduated from Albemarle High School in Charlottesville, Virginia and went on to achieve a long career as a groundsman at Birdwood Golf Course. During Neil's leisure time, he loved spending time with his close family and his friends. He loved following UVA football and basketball, and greatly identified as a Dale Earnhardt fan. To his nieces and nephews, he was the "fun" uncle, always laughing and making jokes. His great-nieces and great-nephews will always remember the sweet treats that he often brought to them, just because he loved to see their smiles. They would truly light up when seeing Uncle Neil's truck pull into the driveway. In addition to his parents, Neil was preceded in death by his loving sister, Penny Maupin. He leaves behind two brothers, Jessie Spencer and his wife, Becky, and Robert Spencer and his wife, Ginger; along with numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends. Of particular note are two of Neil's cousins, Pat Reynolds and Terri Lynne Breeden, who never failed to show their love for him. Two friends were also very close to Neil's heart and were very much like family to him-Wendy Miller Witzke and William McFarland Henry, known to most as "Mac." A celebration of life will be conducted at Alberene Cemetery, 3061 Alberene Church Lane, Esmont, VA 22937 on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at 1:00 PM. Pastor Danny Maupin will be officiating.
