IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Montie Dale
Shifflett, Sr.
March 15, 1956 – March 14, 2026
Montie Dale Shifflett, Sr., 69, of Earlysville, VA, passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at his home. He was born on March 15, 1956, in Charlottesville, VA, to the late Billy Randolph Shifflett and Haselteen Morris Shifflett.
Montie proudly served in the United States Army and lived a life rooted in hard work, simple joys, and devotion to his family. An avid hunter, he felt most at peace outdoors, appreciating the quiet and patience that the sport required. He also had a deep passion for working with his hands, especially when it came to restoring cars. In his personal autobody shop at home, Montie spent countless hours bringing vehicles back to life, a craft he took great pride in.
Music was another love of his, and he especially enjoyed attending bluegrass festivals, where he could relax, listen, and soak in the atmosphere he cherished so much. Despite his many interests, Montie was truly a homebody at heart. There was no place he would rather be than at home, surrounded by comfort and relaxation.
Above all, Montie’s greatest happiness came from his family, especially his grandchildren. He treasured every moment they spent together and looked forward to their visits, creating lasting memories during their stays with him.
Montie will be remembered for his quiet strength, his dedication to the things he cherished, and the deep love he held for his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of over 51 years, Patsy Jean Shifflett; his children, Edward Randolph Shifflett, Montie Dale Shifflett, Jr. (wife, Tabitha, or as Montie called her, Tamitha), Christopher James Shifflett (wife, Teresa), and Angela Victoria Alvarez (husband, Erik); his grandchildren, Danielle Shifflett, Kelsey Arrington (husband, Kaleb), Autumn Shifflett, Christopher Shifflett, Jr., Briana Shifflett, Hunter Shifflett, Priscilla Alvarez, Ethan Alvarez, and Evelynn Alvarez; his great grandchildren, Walker Arrington and Tinsleigh Rogers; his siblings, Stanley Shifflett, Walter “Ricky” Shifflett (wife, Theresa), Anthony “Tony” Shifflett, and Lori Ann Gausman (husband, Curt); and his MinPin, Roxy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William “Randy” Shifflett (wife, Brenda).
A service to honor Montie’s life will be announced once arrangements have been finalized.
The family would like to thank the UVA Cancer Center and staff for their support and care over the past four years.
