Michael Ray Shifflett

Michael Ray Shifflett peacefully passed on May 11, 2026, at his home in Browns Cove, VA, surrounded by family.

He was born on November 22, 1958, to the late Ernest E. Shifflett and Margaret R. Shifflett. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ernest E. Shifflett, Jr.; his daughter, Regina M. Shifflett; and his son, Michael Cain Shifflett.

He is survived by his two grandchildren, Aiden and Isabel; his sister, Sheila Ralston (husband, Willie), Katherine Ryan, Linda Lamb, Della Marsh (husband, Billy), and Wendy St. Pierre (husband, Paul); a special aunt, Sylvia; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.

Michael was deeply devoted to his family. He loved gardening and enjoyed sharing the fruits and vegetables he grew with family and friends. He definitely had a green thumb.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Viscuse and the staff at the Cancer Center for the compassionate care Michael received. They would also like to extend a special thank you to Sheila and Willie for faithfully taking him to all of his appointments. Mike will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

A service to honor Mike’s life will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 15, 2026, at Browns Cove Methodist Church, 5147 Browns Gap Turnpike Crozet, Virginia, 22932, with Pastor Chock Johnson officiating.
