Mary Darvalics, 50, of Arlington, VA, passed away on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at the University of Virginia Medical Center. She was born on September 27, 1975, in Newton, NJ, to Louis Darvalics and Mary Ellen Darvalics.
Mary was born at Newton Memorial Hospital and raised in Hamburg, New Jersey, where she spent much of her early life. A graduate of Wallkill Valley High School, Class of 1993, Mary carried with her the values of kindness, loyalty, and compassion throughout her life. She later made her home in Franklin, New Jersey, where she lovingly raised her daughter. Over the years, Mary also lived in Georgia and South Carolina to remain close to family before ultimately settling in Arlington, Virginia, where she cherished being near her mother and brothers.
Mary had a gentle and generous spirit, and her love for animals was one of the defining joys of her life. She adored her beloved dog, Sophie, and her cat, Charolette, and found happiness in feeding the neighborhood squirrels and caring for the creatures around her. The ocean brought her deep peace and comfort. She loved listening to the rhythm of the waves, walking along the shore, and embracing the calm it offered.
Above all else, Mary treasured time spent with family. Whether gathered around a meal, sharing stories, or laughing together, those moments meant the world to her. Her warmth, kindness, and loving heart touched everyone fortunate enough to know her, and her memory will be forever cherished.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her daughter, Olivia Ashlyn Kelleher; her siblings, Keith Louis Darvalics (wife, Angell), Donna Jean Jensen, and Louis Alan Darvalics (wife, Diana); and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
A graveside service to honor and celebrate Mary’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at North Hardyston Cemetery in Hamburg, NJ.
