Mark Robert Alban, 58, of Roanoke, VA passed away on Thursday, October 13, 2022, at the University of Virginia Medical Center. He was born on October 1, 1964, in Quincy, MA, to Adaline Bornstein Martin and the late, Louis Alban. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Cheryl Alban; his stepdaughter, Ethan Claridge, his daughters, Natalie Alban, and Alyssa Alban; his son, Matthew Alban; stepmother, Dorothy Alban; brother, Paul Alban (Cathy); sister, Susan Rioux (Peter); stepsisters, Dorothy De Franco (Sal), and Marie Eden (Greg), and stepbrother John Iverson (Rya). Mark graduated from Silver Lake High School in Kingston, MA in 1983. He went on to attend Bridgewater State College and later moved to Florida in 1991 where he taught elementary, middle, and high school for over 25 years. He loved politics and watching sports, especially his hometown teams, the New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox. Through the years, he coached and officiated many youth sports. He always enjoyed watching early morning sunrises, exercise, and walks on the beach. He moved to Virginia in summer 2021 so his family could enjoy their first change of seasons, snow, and the beautiful mountains. Mark will be remembered for his friendly, outgoing personality and his optimistic outlook in every circumstance. A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, November 21, 2022 at 1:30 p.m. at, Island Cremations and Funeral Home, 405 S. Courtenay Pkwy, Merritt Island, FL 32952, with the family receiving friends beginning at 1 p.m. A fellowship and light refreshments will follow until 4 p.m. The dress attire is casual and comfortable.
