Marie Jeanette Wiemer, 73, of Culpeper, VA, passed away on Sunday, March 23, 2025, at Brookside Nursing and Rehab in Warrenton, VA. She was born on December 25, 1951, in New Orleans, LA. Marie lived a life full of adventure, dedication, and passion. As the daughter of Leo G.D. Wiemer, Jr., she experienced life in various places while her father served in the Navy, including Indiana, Annapolis, MD, and Virginia Beach. After earning her degree in 1973 from Longwood College in Farmville, VA, Marie moved to Culpeper, Virginia, where she embarked on a lifelong career as an educator. She began teaching high school English at Culpeper County High School, shaping the minds of countless students. When Eastern View High School opened, she continued her teaching journey there until her well-earned retirement. Faith played an important role in Marie's life. She grew up attending an Episcopal church with her parents but found joy in her later years at Mitchells Presbyterian Church. In her free time, Marie enjoyed simple pleasures-reading and watching television, with Gunsmoke and Monk being among her favorite shows. She had a passion for collecting, especially glassware and Vera Bradley purses, which she treasured. Marie's life was one of devotion-to her friends, her students, and the things that brought her joy. She will be remembered for her kindness, passion for teaching, and the love she shared with those around her. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, April 27, 2025, at 2 p.m. at Mitchells Presbyterian Church, 12229 Mitchell Rd., Mitchells, Virginia 22729, with Pastor Patrick Lane officiating. A peaceful and private interment will be held in the mountains at a later date.
