Lonnie Herring, "LH", "Red Baron", 86, of Stanardsville, VA passed away on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at Martha Jefferson Hospital. He was born on June 24, 1936, in Albemarle County, VA to the late Willie and Sarah Herring. He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Herring; his children, Dale Payne, Richard Herring (Marguerite), Don Herring (Denise), and Penny Klemens (Joe); his daughter-in-law, Norma Jean Herring; grandchildren, Russell Tyler Payne (Ashley), Samuel Addison Payne (Kristen), Matthew Joseph Herring (Christina), Richard Adam Herring (Lizzy), Devin Michael Herring, Danna Morgan Herring, Amber Noelle Gentry, and Cory Wayne Gentry; his great grandchildren, Breslin Benedetto-Payne, Brycen Payne, Brody Payne, Braylon Herring, Braxton Herring, Bailey Trevillian, Scarlett Wood and Kai Jackson; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Mark Herring; his siblings, William Earl Herring, Sr. (Gladys), and Lloyd Herring (Doris); and very close uncles, James Herring, and Bernard Herring.
