Linda Mae Colvin

Linda Mae Colvin, 76, of Amissville, VA, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at her home. She was born on May 1, 1950, to the late Warren “Jack” Emerson Compton and Lucy Mae Compton and grew up in Rappahannock, VA.

Linda was a woman whose life was centered around the people she loved most. Her family meant everything to her, and there was no greater joy in her life than her grandchildren. She loved them deeply and found countless ways, both big and small, to make sure they always knew just how special they were to her. Christmas was especially important to Linda. No matter what, she made sure her grandchildren had a wonderful Christmas.

Linda also enjoyed the simple things that made a house feel like home. She took great pride in her home and loved spending time caring for it. She loved her flowers and could often be found tending to them, and she was perfectly happy mowing her own grass, a job she took pride in doing herself. Her home and yard were a reflection of the care she put into the things she loved.

And Linda loved to shop. Whether she was looking for something for herself, her home, or more often something special for someone she loved, shopping was simply one of the things that made her happy.

More than anything, Linda will be remembered for the love she gave so freely to her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister whose presence brought comfort, strength, and a sense of home to those around her. She was the kind of woman who made sure the people she loved were cared for, thought about, and never forgotten.

The flowers she tended will bloom again, the grass will continue to grow, Christmas will come each year, and her family will gather together, but each of those things will carry a little piece of Linda with them. Her love, her traditions, and the countless memories she created will remain woven into the lives of her family for generations to come.

She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Joseph Colvin; her children, Priscilla Cronk (Bill), Wyatt Colvin (Cyndi Welch), and Sarah Mills (Burgess); her grandchildren, Quaid Coxsey, Lucy Colvin, Bristol Mills, Riley Colvin, Joscelyn Mills, Wayland Mills, and Jameson Colvin; her siblings, Polly Haines (Donald), Mary Huff, Warren Compton Jr (Joyce), Donald Compton, Ronald Compton (Jacqui), John Compton, Jerry Compton, and Connie Compton; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Lois Compton.

A service to remember and celebrate Linda’s life will begin at 1 p.m. on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at Sonshine Bible Church, 2161 Colvin Rd. Amissville, VA 20106, with Pastor Syllus Wayne Chapman and Pastor Randy Sheads officiating. The family will receive friends from 11 am to 1 pm prior to the service.

Interment will follow at the Colvin Family Cemetery.
