Obituary

Larry Ulysses Brown, 67, of Charlottesville, VA, passed away on Sunday, December 22, 2024, at the University of Virginia Medical Center. He was born on October 5, 1957, to the late William Brown, Sr. and Lydia Keasley Muldrew. He was born and raised in Charlottesville, VA, where he lived the majority of his life. He attended Lane and Charlottesville High School, where he developed a strong sense of pride in his work ethic and his skills. He was known for his professionalism as a pressman, working as a Printing Press Operator for over a decade at the Albemarle County Office Building. Outside of his professional life, Larry had a wide range of interests that brought him great joy. In his 20s, Larry discovered a love for playing the guitar, a hobby that he would continue to enjoy throughout his life. He also had an undeniable passion for fishing, spending countless hours on the water. Whether alone or with friends, Larry found peace in the simple joy of fishing and the serenity it brought. A master in the kitchen, Larry had an uncanny ability to cook delicious meals, often without the need for a recipe, relying instead on his instincts and a true love for the art of cooking. He was a man of faith. Raised in the Baptist tradition, he grew up attending Shiloh Baptist Church in Stanardsville, VA, where his connection to spirituality was nurtured. As he grew older, his faith became even more central in his life, guiding him through both joyful and challenging times. Larry will be remembered for his generosity, his laughter, and the genuine kindness he showed to everyone he met. He was a loving family member, a devoted friend, and a person who lived with an open heart and an unwavering belief in the importance of faith and community. He is survived by his children, Denise Calloway and Larry Brown, Jr.; his cousin, Angela Taliaferro; and a host of other family members. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by grandparents Allen and Martha Keasley; uncles, Burley and Shirley Keasley; and cousin, Calvin Keasley. His family and friends will miss him deeply, but they take comfort in knowing that his spirit lives on through the memories he created and the love he shared. A memorial service will be held later in 2025. An online guestbook is available at www.compassionatecremationva.com Compassionate Cremation Services of Ruckersville, VA is handling the arrangements.
