Judith "Judy" Ann Fertile, 81, of Zion Crossroads, VA, passed away on Sunday, August 10, 2025, at Hospice of the Piedmont Center for Acute Hospice Care. She was born on March 17, 1944, in Charleston, WV to the late Artie Engle Boston. Judy's greatest joy was being a loving wife and mother - she never missed a game or event of her children's growing up, even while working full time running the blood bank at Camden Clark Memorial Hospital for 30+ years. Judy was a fabulous cook. She had a home cooked meal on the table every night at 6PM. Eating together as a family was very important to her. Family was her rock/foundation. Later in her life, it was her grandchildren that brought her so much joy and contentment - she lived for spending time with them, holding them close and watching them grow up. Judy was a devoted member of Palmyra United Methodist Church, where her faith was at the heart of her life. She joyfully served in many capacities, giving countless hours to her church community and lending her voice to the choir for many years. Judy cherished the friendships she made, especially with her group of lady friends with whom she loved playing Zonk. She also enjoyed the quiet challenge of working word search puzzles. Alongside her beloved husband, Ron, Judy found great fulfillment in volunteering at Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital, where they touched many lives with their kindness and dedication. She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Ronald F. Fertile; her children, Kristia Fertile-Dufer (husband, Brian), Jay C. Fertile, and Ronald E. Fertile (wife, Alexandra); and her grandchildren, Parker B. Fertile, Jett Q. Fertile, Elenor M. Fertile, and Victoria E. Fertile. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her brother, William "Bill" Boston. A Celebration of Life will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Palmyra United Methodist Church, 258 Palmyra Way, Palmyra, VA 22963, with a reception to follow in the church fellowship hall.
