Joyce "Tina" Cowling Harris, 80, of Virginia Beach, VA passed away peacefully on Friday, February 28, 2025, at the Barclay at Charlottesville. She was born on August 6, 1944, in Petersburg, VA to the late Vernard Guy Cowling and Hilma Peck Richardson. Tina was born and raised in Waverly, Virginia, where she spent her childhood immersed in the charm of small-town life. Tina grew to love sewing and became a master seamstress. She had a remarkable talent for creating intricate, beautiful garments, and her work was admired by all who knew her. She had a deep love for music and dancing, with a particular fondness for doo-wop and oldies, which always brought her joy and a smile. Tina's adventurous spirit led her to travel, exploring new places, and experiencing different parts of the country. Alongside her husband, she cherished the happiness of boating and camping, making unforgettable memories on cross-country trips. Whether on the open road or out on the water, Tina's love for adventure was central to her life. Her passion for life, creativity, and music left an enduring impact on everyone who was lucky enough to know her. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 32 years, Donald Roy Harris; her son, Mark Harris and daughter-in-law Megan Harris; her grandchildren, Hunter and Hogan Harris; her stepchildren, Steven Harris and partner Charlie Jones, Christina Harris, Michael Harris, and John Harris; her half-sister, Patty Layne; and her cousin, Gurney Cowling who grew up as brother to her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her aunt and uncle, Gurney Branch Cowling, Sr., and Evelyn Welch Cowling. Services for Tina will be private.
