John Ralph Shaffer Jr., 53, of Culpeper, Virginia, passed away on Saturday, November 2, 2024. Born on February 15, 1971, he was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. John's greatest joys were the simple pleasures in life. Whether it was the thrill of watching sports, like football or wrestling, or spending quiet moments fishing by the water. When John was younger, he developed a deep love for sports that remained a part of him throughout his life. He also cherished the peace and solitude found at the beach, where he could unwind and enjoy his time fishing. John loved his family very much. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Shaffer; his sons, John Shaffer III (Emilie Becker), Bobby Embrey (Suzi Embrey), Justin Embrey (Rebecca Thompson), and Cody Embrey (Rachel Embrey); his grandchildren, Joshua, Jaxon, Brenden, and Lydia, who were all a constant source of joy for him. He is also survived by his mother, Cathy Todd; and his sisters, Autumn Maze (Roger Maze), Becky Keener (Roger Keener), and Edith Ballew (Mark Ballew). John was preceded in death by his father, John Ralph Shaffer Sr. A memorial service to celebrate John's life will be held on Friday, November 15, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at First Century Baptist Church,19191 Batna Road, Culpeper, Virginia 22701. He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
