James F. Sprague, 81, of Barboursville, VA, passed away on Monday, December 25, 2023, at the University of Virginia Medical Center. He was born on October 2, 1942, in Bay City, TX to the late Frederick and Kathryn Sprague. Jim served our country in the United States Military Army Reserves. He loved the Lord and loved worshiping Him. Music was his favorite part of church and he also loved socializing with others and getting to know them. He worked most of his life in the Food and Beverage industry, starting as a Clerk and working his way up to a Management position with several Fine Food and Liquor chains until he retired. He would frequently host wine tasting events where he loved to share his knowledge of wine with others. Jim also enjoyed tending to his garden, doing yard work, bird watching, and being a greeter at various events. He is survived by his children; Shari Wilson and Jim Sprague, Jr., his ex-wife and friend, Darlene Glynn, two grandchildren; Scott Wyckoff and Alisha Pichette, and four great-grandchildren; Kole, Miller, Levi, and Caleb. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, Bill and Darryl; and his sister Llana.
