James Harim McDaniel, 77, of Charlottesville, VA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at the Laurels of Charlottesville Nursing Home. A lifelong outdoorsman and hardworking man of the land, James ran his own logging company for many years. His days were often spent deep in the woods-cutting trees, carving roads through the mountains with his dozer, dragging logs to the yard, and loading them up for transport. He found purpose and pride in his work and in the rugged beauty of the Virginia forests. James had a true love for the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and every spring, you could find him tending to his large garden-an annual labor of love that fed his family and friends. He is survived by his children: sons Stephen James McDaniel and Bryan Keith McDaniel, and his daughter Stacy Renea McDaniel. He will be remembered not only for his tireless work ethic and love of nature, but also for the life he built and the family he cherished. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of more than 50 years, Mildred Ann McDaniel. Their enduring marriage was a testament to love, commitment, and partnership. James's legacy lives on in the mountains he once roamed and in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Services for James may be announced at a later date.
