Henry Carroll Megill III, 67, of Culpeper, Virgina, passed away on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at the Hospice of the Piedmont Center for Acute Hospice Care in Charlottesville, Virginia. He was born on February 9, 1958, in the District of Columbia, to the late Claire and Henry Megill Jr. Originally a lifelong resident of McLean, Virginia, Henry made Culpeper his home for the past 15 years with his partner, Vicky Heckman. In his early twenties, he hit the open road as a long-haul truck driver, crisscrossing the country behind the wheel of 18-wheelers. Some of his favorite stories came from this time, hauling concert and band equipment coast to coast, meeting people from all walks of life, and living for the road, the music, and the freedom. After years spent driving, Henry began working for Long Fence, before he took a leap of faith and founded his own company, Deck Tech Pressure Washing and Sealing. With an unmatched eye for detail and a dedication to excellence, he earned a strong reputation in his community for transforming decks, sidewalks, and homes with care and craftsmanship. Henry was a lover of life's simple and thrilling pleasures: watching sunsets, eating good seafood, blasting classic rock with the windows down, and taking long motorcycle rides. He had a deep appreciation for marine biology and was a gifted writer, always reflecting on the world with the soul of a poet. His dogs were his loyal companions, and he carried an enduring romantic spirit that touched everyone who knew him. Henry will be remembered for his adventurous heart, creative mind, and the joy he found on the road, in the waves, and in the stories he loved to tell. He faced life with unwavering optimism, forever seeing the glass as half full. Henry is survived by his daughter, Veronique Megill; son-in-law, Vincent Dreyer II; grandchildren, Viggo Megill Dreyer, Felicity Vienne- Claire Dreyer, and Tallulah Veronica Dreyer; as well as his siblings, Doug Megill and Kathleen Megill Strek.
