George Victor Harenberg, age 80, of Bumpass, Virginia, passed away on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at the University of Virginia Medical Center. Born on May 7, 1945, in Brooklyn, New York, George was the beloved son of the late George and Thelma (Weidner) Harenberg. George spent his early years in Brooklyn and attended the City College of New York, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree. In 1969, George made Virginia his home, where he, and his loving wife of 56 years, Lynda, built a life rooted in dedication and love. George had a long and respected career as an electronics engineer for the United States Government. He was known for his sharp mind, and unwavering work ethic. Outside of work, George lived life to the fullest. He loved scuba diving, boating, alpine and Nordic skiing, and dancing. He was an adventurer at heart, with a joy for amusement parks and a passion for spending time outdoors. But more than anything, George cherished time spent with his family. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle he was a true family man whose warmth, sense of humor, and presence will be missed beyond words. George is survived by his wife, Lynda Marie Harenberg; his children, Michele Moss and her husband Matt, Dawn Lucero and her husband Mark, and George Harenberg and his wife Jenn; his grandchildren, Hunter, Evan, Lindsay, George, Ella, and Allie; and his sister, Thelma "Terry" Piano. In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his siblings, Paul Harenberg, Eileen DeMeo, and Frances Brizak. A celebration of life for Mr. Harenberg will be held on June 21, 2025.
