Genevieve "Nanny" Shifflett White, 77, of Boonesville, VA, passed away on June 07, 2023, at University of Virginia Medical Center, after a brief illness. She was born on April 08, 1946, to the late John Thomas and Lucy Millie Shifflett in Charlottesville, Virginia. In addition to her parents, Nanny is preceded in death by her first husband, Eugene Walton; her grandson, Chris Frazier; sister in-law, Shirley Shifflett; and her brothers, James "Big Boy" Shifflett, and Leroy Shifflett. Nanny was an outstanding lady. She was kind, considerate and hilarious. In her younger years Nanny liked to sunbathe, read, garden, cook, and listen to her favorite songs on 33's or 45's. She loved music, especially Al Green, Mistikal, Tina Turner and her absolute favorite Kid Rock, just to name a few. She enjoyed game shows and soap operas, particularly The Young and the Restless. I checked today and Dr. Peppers stocks are down, that is probably due to Nanny. She always had one with her, hot just the way she liked it. Nanny spent her life in the foothill of the mountains in Boonesville. She worked for many years at Elder Care and The Cedars. Every Sunday was spent with the entire family at the homeplace. She enjoyed visiting her friends and neighbors, but her greatest pleasure in life was helping to raise her grandchildren and great grandchildren. As Nanny aged, she still did as much as she could for those around her. Even as time slowed her down physically, she was still strong-willed and humorous. Nanny is survived by her husband, James White of Boonesville; her daughters, Jackie Shifflett of Nortonsville, Eugenia "Jeanie" Walton (Tommy) of Free Union, and Kimberley "Chippy" Walton (Monty) of Palmyra; her granddaughters, Jamie Frazier (Vince) of Ruckersville, and Krystal Frazier (Travis) of Boonesville; her great grandchildren, Mackenzie, Presley, Brooklynn, Hayleigh, and Michael; as well as her extended family, friends, and neighbors. We would like to extend our gratitude to everyone that aided in Nanny's care. Dr Molnar and the entire Third Floor Team at University Medical Center, The Hospice of the Piedmont, and Krystal for her continued care over the last three years.
