Gale Bain Ironside of Landrum, SC passed away in Charlottesville, VA on January 20, 2026, after an illness. Gale was born Margery Gale Bain on August 20, 1942, in Baton Rouge, LA to parents Richard Carlysle Bain and Margery Webbe Bain.
Gale graduated from Annandale High School in Annandale, VA. Gale married Earl Bruce Omohundro in 1962 and together they had three children. She divorced in 1974 and moved to Tryon, NC. She had several jobs in Tryon over the years, but her favorite was her job at McCall, McCall, and McCall dental office where she was the receptionist for thirty years.
In 1984 Gale married James (Jimmy) David Ironside, who was the love of her life. Gale loved being a farmer’s wife. Her years with Jimmy were her happiest years.
Gale is predeceased by her parents, her husband Jimmy, and her brother Richard C. Bain, Jr. She leaves behind her three children Earl Bruce Omohundro, Jr (wife Debbie) of Mineral, VA, Kimberly Omohundro Crater (husband Jeff) of Charlottesville, VA, and Kelly Omohundro Agent of Irvington AL; three step-children, Susan Ironside Whiten, James David (Scott) Ironside, and Gregory Dale Ironside; a brother, Peter Dudley Bain, ten grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and three nephews/nieces, and three cats.
A memorial service will be held at Campobello Community Church (401 Depot St, Campobello, SC) at 2:00 on Saturday, January 31.
