Obituary

Elisabeth Ann Clem of Charlottesville, aged 61, joined her Lord and Savior on December 8th, 2022, surrounded by family as they sung her home. A tender-hearted woman who devoted her all to Christ, Elisabeth was born in Cleburne, Texas. Her childhood was filled with an abundance of fond memories that she held dear, with close relationships to family and countless friends that lasted her entire lifetime. In 1984, she married Vann Clem, who in a shared devotion, raised their five children: Emilie (Russell) Cotten, Hunter (Amber) Clem, Lauren (Roger) Rutt, Granton (Kaitlin) Clem, and Spencer (Christine) Clem. An exceptional mother and "Lolla," Elisabeth is also treasured by her seven (and counting) grandchildren who will continue to embody the love and affection she gave them all. She is the beloved daughter of Modena King and a sister to Diane Amyett, Phillip (Gretchen) King, Jon (Sharon) King, Sam (Brenda) King, Sarah (Andy) Stewart, Steven (Robin) King, and Aaron (Kimberly) King, a close friend to 35 cousins, and known as Aunt Elisabeth or "Aunt Bessie" to 39 nieces and nephews. Many will miss her gentle nature, as she has now joined her father Raymond, father-in-law Billy, and sister-in-law Margaret in their eternal home. When given praise for her extraordinary kindness and compassion, she made it clear it was simply her way to show the love of Christ. Known for her deep care for others, Elisabeth was someone who would strike up conversations and establish friendships with people of all walks of life. Elisabeth's favorite way to worship her Lord and Savior was through singing, and while she had an incredible voice, once again, she made sure any appreciation was directed to her Heavenly Father. She often quoted Galatians 2:20, "...it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me." A service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on January 7th, 2023 at Eden Ministries, 2900 Merrie Meadows Lane, Keswick, VA. In lieu of flowers, the family asks any contributions be made to Hospice of the Piedmont, 675 Peter Jefferson Parkway, Suite 300 Charlottesville, VA 22911.
