Obituary

Donald Roger Andrews, 58, of Rixeyville, Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at the University of Virginia Medical Center. He was born on May 4, 1965, in Oneida, NY, to Roger Delmont Andrews, and the late Marijoy Donlon Andrews. In addition to his father, he is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Sherry Poe Andrews; his son and best friend, Scott Thomas Andrews; his brothers, Mark, Jeff, David, and Jonathan Andrews; his sisters-in-law, Melissa Baldwin, Lisa Poe, Joy Andrews, Michelle Andrews, Carrie Andrews, and Becky Andrews; his brother-in-law Charles Baldwin, his stepmother, Joyce Andrews; his father and mother-in-law Randolph and Merilee Poe; and numerous nieces, nephews, other family, and many close friends. In Don's early years of life, he lived with his brothers, mother, and grandmother in Vero Beach, Florida; and often visited his father and stepmother in Virginia. After high school, Don attended flight school in Greely, Colorado. He then moved to Virginia where he married his wife, Sherry, and had his son, Scott. Don later became an Electrician for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers for 26 years, mainly working in Washington D.C. at the U.S. Agricultural Building. Don touched the lives of many with his offbeat sense of humor, warm smile, and loving heart. He was adventurous and fun, always living life to the fullest. He enjoyed sports, attending many spring training baseball games when he was younger and watching his favorite football team, the Dallas Cowboys. He loved being spontaneous as he spent one summer camping on the beaches of the Florida Keys and randomly traveled on occasion to the family cabin in New York state on Willow Lake. In addition, he enjoyed many other beach/lake vacations with family and friends. He also liked to hike, fish, canoe, and party with family and friends. On June 17th a Graveside Ceremony will be held at Amissville Methodist Church 14760 Lee Highway, Amissville, VA at 11:30 AM and a Celebration of Life Picnic on the river bottom at 511 Pine Circle Amissville, VA at 1:00 PM. Follow the balloon markers to the river. In lieu of flowers we are requesting that you send donations to Amissville Volunteer Fire Department.
