David Allan Wick, called "Wicker" by his many friends, age 76, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on August 2, 2025. Born in Camden, New Jersey, he was the oldest son of the late David Andrew Wick and Margaret Elberson Wick. He was the loving brother to Steven B Wick and Nancy Wick Littlefield. A graduate of Haddonfield High School, Dave went on to graduate with his Bachelor's degree from Susquehanna University where he enjoyed being an active member of the Rugby team and where he made lifelong friends. When not in school or teaching, Dave enjoyed summers spent on the beaches in Ocean City New Jersey where he worked for ten years as a lifeguard for Ocean City Beach Patrol. He shared with his family "sharing the lifeguard stand with Steve every summer was the best job I ever had!" An avid sportsman, Dave spent most of his adult life in Eagle River, Alaska where he enjoyed time with cherished friends who shared his love of hunting and fishing and the majestic scenery from his log cabin home. In 2015, Dave returned to the "lower 48" to live in rural Pennsylvania near where he went to college. Over the years, Dave often traveled to Virginia to enjoy the company of family especially his nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews. He loved telling them about his Alaskan adventures and made sure they heard "If you have a dream, chase it…you might just catch it". In his return to the lower 48, Dave was able to spend time catching up and helping to support his parents. In his short but fierce battle with his own health, we have reminded him that his very first "Welcome Home" will be from his Mom, whom he cherished. Dave requested to not have a formal service after his death. A private Memorial Service celebrating his life will be held at a future date. The family would like to ask that donations in Dave's memory may be made to Hospice of the Piedmont who lovingly cared for him.
