Clifford Allen Wheeler, 69, of Falls Church, Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, October 12, 2022, at his residence. He was born on May 25, 1953, in Washington, DC, to the late James Wheeler and Elaine Allen Thompson. Clifford is survived by his sister, Coral Horton (Ron); nephew, Chuck Burke (Jacki); niece, Mandy Burke; great-nephews and niece, Gavin, Aiden, Josh, and Lexi; long-time friend, Fernando Gaitan; and special friend, Barbara Southworth. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his nephew, Josh Burke. Clifford spent his most of his life in the greater DC area and held a B.F.A. from the Corcoran School of Art, Washington, DC, and was a noted art photographer and a fine art framer. He was an exhibiting photographer at Multiple Exposures Gallery at the Torpedo Factory in Alexandria, Va. for 37 years and also directed a summer gallery in Provincetown, MA for a number of seasons. He was a lead installer of exhibitions for many area galleries and museums, designing and installing exhibitions in all media. He loved the outdoors and much of his photography reflected that love. His passion for nature lead him to become an avid scuba diver, fisherman and kayaker. He was known for meticulous craftsmanship, an obsessive eye for detail, and a quirky sense of humor. Clifford was an engaging and generous friend to many and will be greatly missed. Services for Mr. Wheeler will be private.
