Clarice Grubbs Perkins, 89, of Louisa, VA, passed peacefully on Saturday, April 20th, 2024, in Charlottesville at the Hospice of the Piedmont Center for Acute Hospice Care. She was born on May 28, 1934, in Louisa, VA to the late Ernest and Marie Cosner. She survived by her loving husband, Bernard Earl Perkins of 50 years; her two children, Glenn Grubbs and Gwendolyn Grubbs; stepson David Perkins; her grandchildren, Jacqueline Payne (fiancé Tony Walton), and George Payne; great grandchildren, Abbie Payne, Jacob Hutchinson, Jayden McCoy, Eli McCoy, Emory Hughes, Dillon Payne and Elowen Payne; and nephew, William Fitzgerald. Clarice also survived by her husband's loving sister, Margret "Lula" Chodosh and husband Lance Chodosh; sisters in law, Hazel Perkins, and Julia Perkins; along with many more family and friends that she loved dearly. Her beloved granddaughter, Jacqueline Payne along with her fiancé, Tony Walton and their children took wonderful care of her and Bernard throughout her illness until her passing. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband and father to her two children, Melvin "Red" Grubbs; sisters, Mary Ellen Richardson, and Frances Cosner; daughter in law, Pamela Gibson Grubbs; and granddaughter, Ashley Marie Grubbs. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2024, from 1 pm to 3:30 pm in the social hall at Macedonia Global Methodist Church, 17 Byrd Mill Road, Louisa, VA, where family and friends can enjoy refreshments and celebrate the life she lived.
