Charles Lee Shores, 84, of Ruckersville, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 28, 2025, at the Hospice of the Piedmont- Residential Hospice House, in Charlottesville, Virginia, where his wonderful hospice care team surrounded his bedside. He was born on November 8, 1940, in Bertie County, North Carolina, to the late Frank and Mabel Shores. Quiet in nature, Charles cherished time spent with his family and had a deep love for the simple joys in life. He especially enjoyed watching western movies and found great happiness in cooking for others. A talented chef, Charles worked in various restaurants throughout his life, where he took pride in sharing his skills and creativity in the kitchen. Charles is survived by his siblings: Shirley Jean Crickenberger, Clara Mae Wray, Caroline Virginia Henderson, Rose Marie Shores, Jerry Wayne Shores, Calvin Wade Shores, and Bruce Allen Shores; his uncle, Ray Shores; a special niece, Sherrie Crawford and her husband, Tim; as well as many extended family members and friends. A graveside service for Charles will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at 10 am, at Holly Memorial Gardens, located at: 3251 Seminole Trail, Charlottesville, Virginia 22911.
