Charles Clifford Gibson, 78, of Dillwyn, VA, passed away on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at the University of Virginia Medical Center. He was born on November 8, 1947, in Charlottesville, VA, to the late Obey Eugene Gibson and Frances Sprouse Gibson.

Charles was the kind of person who never met a stranger. He was friendly, easygoing, and always willing to lend a hand to anyone who needed it. He proudly served our country in the United States Army, carrying that same spirit of dedication and selflessness throughout his life. Whether it was family, friends, or someone he had just met, Charles was always there to help without expecting anything in return.

He had a lifelong love of cars and could spend hours building, fixing, and talking about them. If there was an engine to work on or a project in the garage, Charles was in his element. He also loved driving dump trucks and tractor-trailers, taking pride in the work he did and the miles he traveled. When he wasn't working, you could often find him at the drag strip enjoying the thrill of racing or out on his motorcycle, embracing the freedom of the open road.

More than anything, Charles will be remembered for his big heart, his generous spirit, and the way he made people feel welcome. He had a way of making friends wherever he went and was always ready with a smile, a story, or a helping hand. His kindness, sense of humor, and love for life will be deeply missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Delta Gibson; his children, Elmer Jackson, Barbara Wade, Betty Collier, Jason Gibson (Summer), China Washington, Larry Londeree (Alexis), Kenneth Londeree, and Felicia Londeree; his grandchildren, Haley, Hannah, Selene, Jason Jr., Bently, Dixie, Dwayne, Ryder, Frances, Belinda, Savannah, Michael, Allen, Brandon, Anyia, Jeremy, Clarence, Devina, Freya, Belicia, and Sekani; his sisters, Polly York and Nancy Thomas; a close friend who was like a daughter, Angela Farrish and her husband, John, along with their children, Jessica, Candice, Saphira, and JJ; and numerous great grandchildren, extended family, and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Mary Hall, Donna Shifflett, and Frank Gibson.

A service to celebrate and remember his life may be announced at a later date.
