Charlene Hope Raines, 70, of Orange, VA, passed away on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at her residence. She was born on November 19, 1954, in Charlottesville, VA, to the late Charles Edward Smith and Lois Juliet Ennis Smith. Charlene was a woman of warmth, kindness, and endless love. She found joy in the simple things, especially the soothing rhythm of the ocean waves. The beach was her happy place, where she could feel the sun on her skin, the sand beneath her feet, and the peaceful embrace of the sea breeze. She cherished the simple joys of life, whether it was her passion for dancing, the delight in getting her hair styled, or the pleasure in shopping. Above all, happiness came when she was with family. Charlene was a devoted mother and grandmother. Her family was the center of her world, and she poured her heart into every moment spent with them. She was a source of wisdom, laughter, and unconditional love, always ready with a comforting word or a warm embrace. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew her, in the stories she shared, and in the love she so freely gave. Though she may be gone, her spirit remains-like the ocean she cherished, constant and everlasting. She is survived by her sons, Fletcher Earl Raines III (Leigh Ann) of Orange, VA, and Dustin Lyell Mackenzie Raines (Kenneth) of Arlington, VA; her brother, Charles Smith of Charlottesville, VA; her sister, Denise Collier; her grandchildren, Brianne Marie Hope Raines, Bryson Jasper Raines, Makayla Danae King, Annaka Lanae King, and Fletcher Raines IV; and her great grandchildren, Delilah Hudson, Brynleigh Ryder, Blakely Ryder, and Oaklynn Knighting.
