Callie Jane Hess, 59, passed away on March 21st, 2021 at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville, VA. She was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia in December of 2020 and fought it like a warrior until the end. Born, October 14th, 1961 in Washington, DC, she was the daughter of Fred and Frances Hess. Callie is survived by her sisters Donna Sears and Lisa Poulsen-Marston; three sons, Roger Elliott and wife Rachel of Ruckersville, VA, Randy Elliott and wife Donica of Nashville, TN, Steven Dawson and fiance Marisa Hogrefe of Charlotte, NC, aunt and uncle Tena and Chip Markosky, nephews Michael Hess, Jacob Poulsen and Trey Poulson, nieces Brandi Sears-Booker and Krystin McConnell, and granddaughters Reagan and Virginia Elliott. Callie graduated from Middlesex County High School in 1979 and moved to Stanardsville, VA shortly after where she studied accounting at the National Business College of Charlottesville. She loved the ocean, the Washington Football Team (Redskins), and her cats, especially Usher who held a special place in her heart. She also enjoyed rock climbing and spending time outdoors, a passion that she passed along to her sons. She will be deeply missed by her family, children and granddaughters. A Celebration of Life organized by her sisters Donna and Lisa is set for this summer with details forthcoming.
