Obituary

Brandon Keith Smith, 38, of Louisa, VA, passed away on Monday, January 5, 2026, at the University of Virginia Medical Center. He was born on April 8, 1987, in Richmond, VA, to Keith and Loretta Smith.

Brandon was born and raised in the Stafford–Fredericksburg, Virginia area, but lived in Louisa, VA, where he built a life rooted in hard work, family, and community. As a fourth-generation HVAC technician, he began working alongside his father at the age of 16. What started as learning the family trade grew into a lifelong career defined by dedication, skill, and leadership. In time, he proudly worked beside his eldest son, passing the trade forward and continuing a five-generation legacy.

Through years of commitment and hands-on experience, Brandon advanced within the HVAC industry and eventually became the Richmond-area supervisor for his current company. In this role, he worked on complex building systems that supply air for advanced AI computer infrastructure, work he took great pride in and approached with both precision and responsibility.

Those who knew him well also knew of his knack for growing. Whether in a garden or helping something thrive, it was a quiet talent that reflected his patient, steady nature, and his ability to nurture both plants and people.

Brandon loved spending time with his wife, Megan and their five children, who were always his first priority and greatest joy. He deeply loved his wife, Megan and treasured the life they built together while raising their five children. He cherished any time spent with his family, including his parents, siblings, and his Maw, finding comfort in knowing they were always there for him.

He enjoyed being outdoors and could often be found fishing, playing disc golf, or simply playing with his dogs. He loved listening to music, and football was a lifelong passion – from playing Little League and school football himself, to proudly supporting his sons through Little League and school football. He also took great pride in cheering on his two oldest children as they played baseball and softball. When he wasn’t on the sidelines cheering on his children, he could often be found cuddling with his youngest. Brandon valued his friends and extended family, treasuring time spent together and the lifelong bonds he built.

Brandon will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his deep love for his family, and the many lives he touched through his generosity, loyalty, and steady presence.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Megan Smith; his children, Noah Prior-Smith, Rhylan Prior-Smith, Austin Smith, Ian Smith, and his youngest, Eilena Smith; his siblings, Scott Smith (Jennifer), Miranda Smith (Jason), and Katelin Smith (Brendan); his grandparents, Donald and Mary Morehouse; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his cousin and best friend, Preston Morehouse; and his grandparents, Steven Smith, Jr., and Lovis Bailey (Smith).

A service to honor Brandon’s life will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at 3 p.m. at the Betty J. Queen Center, 522 Industrial Dr. Louisa, VA 23093.
