Arlene Bright Smith, 77, of Madison, VA, passed away on Monday, January 20, 2025, at her residence. She was born on November 6, 1947, to the late Charles and Mamie Bright. Mrs. Smith was a warm-hearted and vibrant woman whose life was centered around her family, faith, and a variety of beloved hobbies. A cherished member of Antioch Baptist Church, she found deep strength and inspiration in her faith, actively participating in the church community. She had a love for simple pleasures, including playing bingo and cards, where her competitive spirit and joyful nature shone. Her love for cooking allowed her to nurture and bring people together, often sharing delicious meals with family and friends. Gospel music held a special place in her heart, uplifting her spirit and further connecting her to her faith. Mrs. Smith's life was a testament to her love for family, her dedication to her beliefs, and her ability to bring joy and warmth to everyone around her. She will always be remembered for her kindness, her unwavering faith, and the happiness she brought to those who were fortunate enough to know her. She is survived by her children, Sharon Banks, Lisa Washington, Angela Washington, and Bobby Washington; her siblings, Bonnie, Lynn, Gwen, Ronnie, Jerome, Moses, Joseph, Carolee, and Wayne; and numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family, and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Ethel, Charles, Michael, Clarence, and Fred. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 2p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church, 1165 Mud Rd., Madison, VA 22727.
