Obituary

Allen Wayne Cutright, 83, of Harrisonburg, VA, passed away on Friday, October 4, 2024. He was born in Charlottesville, VA, to the late Arley Cutright and Frances Rhodes. Allen was raised in North Garden VA, later relocating to New Mexico for several years before returning to Dayton, VA. He then spent the last few years living with his daughter in Ancram, NY while he waited for a spot at VMRC in, Harrisonburg, VA. He was an accomplished woodworker and carpenter. He spent his early career installing machinery in big plants like the Hershey factory in PA, a brass factory in CT, and the Air and Space Museum in DC. He owned and operated Central Gate and Shutter Company where he made finely crafted garden gates and home shutters. After retiring he found himself in Dayton, VA driving for the Mennonite community where he made lots of wonderful friends and supporters. He often said that was the best job he ever had, driving for his community in Dayton. Allen loved to tinker in his wood shop, he was a skilled woodworker and train enthusiast. He enjoyed making clocks work and constructing funny gadgets or creating intricate inlaid wood pieces. Raised Methodist, Allen always believed that the Lord was his Savior, and he was a strong supporter of his Mennonite community, attending Dayton Mennonite Church in his later years. Services for Mr. Cutright may be announced at a later date.
