Obituary

Alice “Jane” (Arseneau) Morgan, 94, entered into eternal life in Heaven on October 27, 2025, at The Harbor Memory Care in Stanardsville, Virginia, which had been her home for the past two years.

Born and raised in Bourbonnais, Illinois, Jane was a proud daughter of a French-Canadian heritage. She lived in the Bourbonnais area for nearly her entire life and was a long-term member of the community. Jane cherished her family roots and carried them with her throughout her life. She was truly one of a kind—full of sass, strength, and deep faith. She loved crafting, visiting with family and friends, and sharing stories that connected generations. Among her favorites were memories of her family’s bakery and the lively “Bernard house,” home to her 12 brothers and sisters—the family’s beloved “baker’s dozen.” A devout Catholic, Jane taught many about the power of prayer and the importance of a daily prayer life.

Jane also loved to travel, and she and her husband Bob visited all 50 U.S. states together. She enjoyed shopping and had a particular fondness for browsing antique stores, always on the lookout for a special treasure.

In her early years, Jane married John E. Hatting, and together they welcomed her only child, Denise James. Years later, after marrying Robert “Bob” Morgan, Denise was lovingly adopted by Bob, who became her devoted father.

Jane began her working years at Ford Hopkins in Kankakee. She later served as a switchboard operator and clerk at Alden’s Department Store before joining the ASCS office in Bradley, Illinois, where she first met Bob Morgan, the office manager at the time. She went on to dedicate 30 years of faithful service to City National Bank in Kankakee.

She will be deeply missed by her daughter, Denise James; her grandchildren, Rob (Stacy) Thorgersen and Marcie (Dustin) Maguire, who lovingly knew her as “G-Ma”; her great-grandchildren, Lexi Thorgersen, Eleanor Maguire, and Raegan Maguire; and her great-great-grandchildren, Brynlee and Jett Daugherty. She is also survived by her beloved siblings Mary Bisaillon, Ray Arseneau, Lois Arseneau, Carol Miller, and Christine Lambert, along with many extended family members and friends.

Jane is preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bob” Morgan; her parents, Willard and Henrietta “Hattie” (Raymond) Arseneau; her siblings Rose Raines, Natalie Keigher, Tom Arseneau, Edna “Nixie” Arseneau, Linda Benoit, Jerome Arseneau, and Marcella Arseneau; and her son-in-law, Charles “Mike” James.

Her memory will live on in the stories she shared, the traditions she preserved, and the love she instilled in her family.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 3, at 11:00 a.m. at Maternity BVM Catholic Church, 308 East Marsile Street, Bourbonnais, Illinois. Visitation will take place at the church from 10:00–11:00 a.m. prior to the Mass. Burial will immediately follow at All Saints Cemetery, 1839 IL-102, Bourbonnais, IL. A luncheon will be provided in the parish center at Maternity BVM Catholic Church immediately following the burial.

The family requests that memorial donations be made to Maternity BVM Catholic Church in Bourbonnais.
