Deborah Frances Eades Hartzell

On December 19, 2024, Deborah "Debbie" Frances (Eades) Hartzell, 68, passed away peacefully in Charlottesville, Virginia. Debbie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was incredibly proud of her family, and most enjoyed spending time with them and hearing about their adventures and accomplishments. Born in Roanoke, Virginia on April 25, 1956 to Frank Eugene Eades and Delores Epperley Barringer, both deceased. She was raised by her grandparents Cola and James Eades. Debbie spent most of her life in Virginia. Debbie had a passion for animals, especially cats. Always caring for any that would make their way to her. While she held many jobs, her favorites were being a waitress at Moosie's Restaurant in Smith Mountain Lake, where she met her husband of the last 13 years, Charlie, and more recently working as an analyst at the Hagerstown Housing Authority in Maryland. In 2008, Debbie and Charlie moved to Martinsburg, West Virginia where they enjoyed the company of friends and neighbors, spending time together in retirement, swimming in their backyard pool, and walking their dogs. Debbie loved to cook and provided extensive southern meals for friends and family. You were always well fed when visiting, especially around the holidays. Christmas was her favorite time of year, her home always beautifully decorated for the season. Debbie also adored the beach and would often visit Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and the Outer Banks of North Carolina. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Angela Bowden; her sisters, Linda Rodriquez, Brenda Downie, and Penny Eades; and her brother, Joel Barringer passed away only a few days after her. She is survived by her husband, Charles Hartzell; her daughter, Michelle Pittman (Scott); her step-daughters, Cassandra Miller (Sean) and Elma Tatum; her step-son, Michael Hartzell (Devon); her sister, Rebekah Barringer Kaczmarek (Joel); her brothers, Steven Eades (Cindi), and Kenny Eades; her brothers-in-law, Raymond Hartzell, Donald Hartzell, and Richard Hartzell (Laura); her twelve grandchildren, Keifer, Olivia, Ethan, Spencer, Garrett, Aereona', Lily, Kane, Brooke, Saige, Raegan, and Caroline; six great-grandchildren JoHannah, Ledger, Beckham, Oakleigh, Kayson, and Kade; and many Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins. Celebrations of her life will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at 1 pm at Southside Baptist Church, 1060 Hidden Forest Drive, Goodview, Virginia; and on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 2 pm at Mountain View Church of the Brethren, 2345 Middleway Pike, Bunker Hill, West Virginia In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made in Debbie's honor to the Hospice of the Piedmont or Alzheimer's Association .
